From National Park Centre in corner of market place, small road swings right, join path by pottery (signed To The River), road 50 yards, left at junction, 50 yards, right (signed footpath and Surgery), becomes track. 02. About 100 yards after last house on left, at bench and before fieldgate, walled path on left downhill, right to fields (3 fieldgates and small footbridge). Pass suspension bridge over River Swale, riverside path (3 gates, 4 stiles). 03. Right to field-edge path up to Healaugh (fingerpost Meadow Land) wall to right, fieldgate, track, left to road. 04. Second road on right (signed Kearton) bench. Track on right (signed Thiernswood Hall, Private Land), becomes path into wood, 100 yards then path swings right, through ornate white metal gate into field, 100 yards, stile in corner and left to grassy path up to moor. 05. Right to stone track. 06. Pass house called Thirns Farm then left to concrete track uphill, becomes stone, then dirt, then grass. Ignore side turns, often contours with field walls to right. 07. Pass above farm with large barns, 100 yards, wooden fieldgate in wall corner to walled track downhill, cross track, becomes path. Left to road into Reeth.
