Directions

When in doubt look at the map.  Check your position at each point.  Keep straight on unless otherwise directed.

From car park, cross road and up grassy bank/verge for150 yards, left to grass track and gate (info board), grass track gently uphill, becomes path.
Left to metalled drive and ignore a Private sign after 400 yards.
Immediately before cattlegrid/fieldgate into field with house, left downhill on path near wall, imperfect stepping stones over Hutton Beck, uphill by wall to corner then straight on for 50 yards to join grouse butts.  After last butt (was number 9), path forks right 100 yards to standing stone, narrow path 50 yards to inscribed standing stone, 20 yards to road.
Left to main road (verge), 20 yards, stone track on right downhill (unsigned). Cross road, rejoin track.
Left to road uphill (verge), track on right towards farm but 20 yards before cattlegrid/fieldgate turn left to grassy track to skirt outside fields.
In dip by power lines and 20 yards before fingerpost and wooden footbridge, turn left to path for 50 yards up to waymarked post, left to grassy path, 200 yards, right fork (waymarked post), 100 yards.
EITHER carry straight on and flat along public footpath to Number 8 OR fork right to grassy path (no sign) and uphill by tree-lined gully. Right at top of hill to paths around open top, not into fields.  A path downhill starts about 150 yards from a fieldgate in a top wall and angles downhill then right at corner and around the outside of the fields on grassy track.
Snickelgate on right to fenced path between fields (waymark, fingerpost), becomes track. Fieldgate on right (waymark), by fence, snickelgate (waymark), by fence, fieldgate on left and right into village.
